No The Outsiders is the first book many people read in their life & it shows them they CAN read a book. Not that they can turn the pages on a graphic novel.https://twitter.com/ChristieDeHart/status/1316156138426114048 …

@se4realhinton Please consider writing a graphic novel version of The Outsiders. My students love your novel, and I know I could engage more readers who are reluctant and striving with a graphic novel version. Thank you for this beautiful work!

Hi, librarian here. Graphic novels stimulate reading in unique ways and are 100% real books. Especially well done, the Outsiders in graphic novel form could reach a whole new audience. Sorry you don’t care about them.

I'm with you, as an ENG professor, I know Novels and Graphic Novels are two different modalities. They are expressed in different language skills. They use different types of Reading. Like how the '83 movie is different from the book because they are 2 different genres.

My daughter has ADHD. Graphic novels have been great for her, HOWEVER, The Outsiders was the first novel she read all the way through. It’s accessible. She loved it and had a huge sense of accomplishment. I had the exact same experience when I was her age.

No need to apologize. Feel free to write your own graphic novel utilizing similar elements from The Outsiders. Stop expecting creators to pander to every demographic and tell the underrepresented that they are welcome to create works they wish to be represented in.

If I wrote a book, it would make me sick to see someone turn it into a graphic novel. Not all books are meant to be graphic novels. Readers visualizing the characters, setting, etc. with their own mind’s creation is part of what makes reading novels special. 📚📖💙💜

LOTs of classic novels have been turned into graphic novels. At the urban library where I work, these graphic novels are FAR more popular than the originals, and I promise that Khaled Hosseini, Madeleine L'Engle, and Harper Lee are not too sore about it

And a lot of them are terrible. What happened to respect the intent of the artist? It's like watching people get mad at Alan Moore for hating Superhero stories. To each, their own and I love graphic novels.

How in the world is a graphic novel even remotely similar to reality TV?
