Version 2.3 -- going live today -- is the first step in this deployment.

In order to be ready for the SPoRAs upgrade, miners should ensure that they have a copy of the Arweave dataset stored locally. We expect that data stored on SSDs will have a competitive advantage over traditional HDD devices.

Miners should also prepare for much larger volumes of data. This time last year, the weave was ~1/30th of its present size. The weave is now 2,924x its size two years ago. We expect that this growth will continue, if not rapidly increase, throughout 2021.pic.twitter.com/8gTkmWbWLn

Early in 2021, for example, we intend to store an 80 TB snapshot of the entire web circa 2011 to the Arweave network, or similar data sets.

We expect this to be just one of many high volume data uses of the network in 2021 -- from ArDrive user growth, to integration as storage for highly scalable blockchains like Solana and SKALE, and many more. Let’s get ready to scale!
