    I had a chat with two senior developers and asked them how did they get hired when they were just starting. Both gave me the same response. “Companies will look for humble people, easy to work with and willing to learn and not a strong coder that is full of himself.”

    Rewire your brain: I can’t do it => I haven’t learned how to do it yet I always fail => Success will come eventually I’m not good enough => I’m getting better every day

    A lot of folks were laid off at moovel this week, myself included. I'm currently looking for a role where I can continue to grow as an engineer with a collaborative team. I have experience with React, Redux, GraphQL, TypeScript, Node, and mapping/ data visualization libraries.

    Can we replace "password reset" links with "login via email" links, because there are so many sites I can't remember the password for and I always screw up my password managers.

    Learn programming fundamentals before you learn the shinny new libraries. Fundamentals are forever, shinny libraries are short term.

    Mobile text editors are fantastic 🤯 The developers of these apps are doing God's work. You can practice on the go, and it's an accessible coding option along with local libraries. Here are some mobile coding apps to try in a thread if you want a mobile option:

    Difference between a 66% and 88% in a Codibility test: Use of length caching in a Javascript 'for' loop. Instead of: for( let i=0; i<array.length; i++ ) {} Use this: for ( let i=0, len=array.length; i<len; i++) {}

    You know how to code. You passed few challenges. You learned some React. You got MongoDB under your belt. Played around with flex and CSS grid. You applied at a few jobs. You just don’t feel you’re qualified. Like you’re not even sure what to do next. Don’t you give up :)

    The trend of remote first companies is real. There are finally enough tools and norms where people can creatively brainstorm, align on work, deliver it collectively, and analyze the results without needing to stare at each other or the same documents in real life.

    If your app is relatively simple you probably don't need Vuex. In most cases it will complicate your state management instead of simplifying it. There are at least two alternatives that will work much better: - Passing down shared state from root component - Using Vue.observable

    Pro tip If you want to quickly "debug" your HTML structure and see what is where simply write * { outline: 1px solid red } and you will see immediately which elements are where :)
