Hi friends 👋🏽 I just updated shades-of-purple-emacs, and it now includes rainbow-delimiters support, better line numbers and gutter colors, and the right current line highlight background color. 🎉 (Plus some random idris-mode faces).

I mean, I hate computers, and the tech industry is full of problems, but don’t get me wrong: programming is beautiful.

Anxiety was acting up earlier today, and I found this. The words of Pema Chödrön are always a soothing balm.

This is the weirdest thing I’ve seen and read in a long time. What the fuck is happening? Did I go insane or something? Why is everybody interviewed in that article so casual about the weird stuff they’re doing?

Just started this book. I’m only done with the introduction and I’ve already had several “sits back in awe, jaw dropped” moments.

The first camp gives me the impression of outsiders trying to reify and ride the “tech company phenomenon.” I much prefer the second camp, where I get more a sense of just nerds who like to build stuff and solve problems.

There’s a dichotomy I’ve observed in startup Twitter: There’s the pundit camp that talks about “innovation” and “the market” and just overall weird business book talk. And there’s the camp that really likes to get into the weeds of building product, company culture, etc.

“How do we make someone suffer more?” is never, ever the right question to ask. No matter what the crime is.

I probably shouldn’t be tweeting so proudly about that, though.

I don’t love those old, legacy projects that seem to have no owner. You know the ones: nobody’s really sure how they work or who to talk to about getting the ball rolling.

I think I accidentally started a heated debate on a Buddhist forum. Two monks are going at it. I never wanted this 😂
