It seems artstation has somewhat improved their Eula on AI scraping. The fact this happens a few days after two major lawsuits, including one naming their competitor deviantart, is likely not a coincidence. Wish lawsuits weren’t the best way to promote good behavior

Playing with Epic's Realityscan photogrammetry software on my iphone. It does an amazing job with this Pacific Rim robot toy, check out how it manages to capture all the negative space, etc. Note: this is for educational purposes only, the figure is copyright Legendary Pictures.

Made brand new logos for some personal IPs that I hope to continue to explore this coming year. Dusting off some old favorites and continuing to explore some universes created in last few years. “Space Baroque”, “Lith”, “Starship Hulls” and “The Reaper”. #logos #typography

So this book arrived just in time, I'm seeing the film this afternoon. So happy it's like 3 times longer than the art book for the first film. Not gonna look at it yet, will enjoy it tomorrow so I'm not spoiled. #Avatar2

So now they’ve added a way to tag all artwork. But clicking the checkbox to tag all current and future works doesn’t seem to add the tag to my current artworks. Looks broken. Also “no ai” means the art can’t be scraped or the artwork isn’t made with ai? The tag name is confusing.

One of the greatest #scifi painters of all time, new book just released. I’m always mystified by how he’s able to achieve such scale with such rough brushstrokes. When I retire I look forward to studying his works intensely & maybe I can learn a thing or two

Artstation responds, tldr, it’s up to the individual artists to police themselves. Afraid this decision may kill the site as a valuable resource for job hunting and hiring.

I know this is a nuanced topic, with some art being completely ai generated, some hybrid work, and some created by traditional digital means, but it’s time to start having this discussion so the site can be as useful as possible to the whole community.

An open letter addressing the recent controversial topic about the use of unlicensed artist's work in the training and prompting of Text-to-Image Diffusion models. We hope that our tools will continue to enable artists and designers to create beautiful and meaningful work.
