My heart is bursting. On the eve of my first child's birth, my dad - who's been in prison nearly my entire life - was granted clemency. He never intended harm, yet his crime devastated many families. My heart breaks for the families that can never get their loved ones back.

The three people your father helped murder when he was a leader in a communist terrorist group never got to see or hear their loved ones again.

Do you think people can be redeemed or change? I'm not sure what the point of a prison system is if we can't at least make good effort at allowing people chances at new beginnings.

The three people that were killed will never have a chance at new beginnings. Besides, the “never intended harm” hints at this terrorist not regretting his actions.
