Building an argument on the statements taken by Turkish police is highly problematic, because as we have seen in the most recent Gokhan Acıkkollu case and UN's Nils Melzer's report, torture and prosecutorial misconduct have become epidemic in Turkey.

Secondly, 30K police officers were dismissed under the emergency rule and and only 3 police officers were (allegedly) involved the coup attempt and 2 of them had very close relations with AKP's Yalcın Akdogan.
