The Arrested Lawyers

Dr. Kerem Altiparmak: Just last week, 3 human rights defenders were convicted in Turkey. The first is the conviction of Omer Faruk Gergerlioglu. Most prominent HRD in the Turkish parliament will go to jail just for sharing a piece of news article. The article is still online.

Human rights lawyer Eren Keskin was convicted 6 years and 3 months in prison for membership of an armed terrorist organisation. And also Sebnem Korur Fincanci, the chair of Turkish Medical Association, was convicted for insulting president Erdogan.

ECtHR concluded that the detention of Alparslan Altan, the member of Constitutional Court, has breached his convention rights. But he is still in prison.
