Turkey's ruling party AKP, after having defeated in local elections, lodged several applications with the High Election Board, in one of those, AKP argued that those purged under emergency decrees did not have the right to vote.

Although, AKP's argument was dismissed by the HEB/YSK, Mr Yigit, who has just become the president of SAP/Danistay, as the (then) member of HEB/YSK had delivered a dissenting opinion concurring AKP's argument that the purged civil servants did not have the right to vote.
