42,046 were dismissed out of a total of 1,420,000 persons vetted. That is, of the 6.3 percent revealed to have Stasi ties, it is estimated that a mere 3 percent were removed from their jobs. (Judging the Past in Unified Germany | James McAdams)
In the case of German unification, the dismissals were made under a fair vetting process . Those dismissed 
were not jailed, were not denied of their pension rights, were not subjected to life-time ban, were not denied of passport as the Turkish Government did.
