I’m not sure I agree with this... not sure if anyone can fully understand the pain of a severe sunburn like a ginger. :)

Gingers don’t feel pain.

Beaver, Armin is a brilliant, fearless man. As a feminist, I have noticed a commonality among
@ArminNavabi ,@aliamjadrizvi &@MaajidNawaz, three men who have received more than their share of death threats. All have happy marriages from which they presumably draw strength.

It's experience they claim you don't have, therefore not understanding. Problem is when they use that to justify their proposed policy.

99.9 percent similarity matters not the 0.01 percent difference which is just the color of skin and hair. We all are from the same cosmic source.

a posteriori knowledge. Some things we just cannot imagine- we can only listen and learn from the person with the experience.

I recall reading about this in a Dr. Sesuss book when I was first learning to read. See how important not just reading is but to have some books at a young age that can set a person in the right direction? So what are those teachers handing up? Complete opposite of this tweet

With empathy, it is possible to go a long way with understanding other people´s lives & experiences. But, it is impossible to know these things in depth, unless being the person living the actual life - not to mention the fact that everybody experiences things very differently.

I’ve heard this from people who simultaneously presume there’s nothing about your experience they fail to grasp. The skin color barrier is miraculously on an impediment to one side’s understanding but not the other’s.

I'd rather focus on what we have in common rather than make division. I am not gay but I understand love. I'm not religious but I understand having conviction. Flawed analogies maybe but you get it.

it boils down to the issue of focusing only to the external appearance of situations rather than the inner emotional experiences -- which are often shared more universally and thus *could* be used as common ground....
