Yeah, but for me it led to self discovery and learning new skills to be a better friend, rather than blaming everyone else for loneliness.

Right. I joined the military in part to force myself to socially encounter new people and get out of my shell.

But I can definitely see possible futures in which instead of doing that I kept stewing in toxic loneliness and self-loathing
