Actually, it's because your brain is tricking you when the Moon is close to monuments or mountains. And it looks smaller when it's lost up in the sky. And even if you know this, your brain will continue to trick you. 
Halite commonly known as rock salt, is a type of salt, the mineral (natural) form of sodium chloride (Na Cl). Halite forms isometric crystals. PS: please don't lick rocks.
