The Cryogenic Main stage is to go through the atmosphere, optimized for sea level The boosters are to give a cheap reliable and powerful boost at launch The Upper stage is used to complete orbit and go beyond, as it's optimized to operate in space !
Then what kind of body part would you compare each stage to?

The Main Cryogenic stage would be heart, steady and necessary, works flawlessly. The boosters are more of the legs, not necessary, but a huge plus, and a lot of power packed in. The Upper Cryogenic stage is the brain, sitting on top of everything else, being the most efficient
