@repjohnlewis says GOP voter suppression efforts in states like GA & FL tipped close races in 2018. "I truly believe the way votes were not counted & purged in states like Georgia and Florida changed the outcome of the last election. That must never happen again in our country."pic.twitter.com/eU3XAREnUw

Keep passing great bills like these. Then pass different versions of them just for good measure and keep the pressure on Senators asking them why they won't even consider the bills.
-
Yes
@SpeakerPelosi don’t let them slide on no votes for ideas America supports. They deserve to pay in 2020.#BlueWave2020

So glad to know they're addressing all this stuff right out of the gate. A thick, bright red line needs to be drawn to show what Ds are made of, and what Rs are looking to run away from.
-
And there needs to be a concerted effort for Ds to own, control and deliver the message. Because traditional media will NOT carry the water without an aggressive push on a daily basis.

It would be easier to pass some of them if they were individual bills. Why do they self-sabotage like this?
-
More show than policy. I can't believe a single one has a snowballs chance to pass the senate. The have to make us of public support more than actually legislate.
. -
I think you’re right, but I think it’d be great to get some Republican senators to explain why they oppose early voting. Because it will be a lie.
-
True dat. And at least change the conversation
-
According to Vox, there are a number of sections that can/will be broken out and offered to the Senate, like the DISCLOSE act which forces transparency on social media as buys. That and a few others have a chance

I enjoy the dream as well, but how likely is any of this to come to pass?
-
It is a concrete set of proposals on which to campaign for a democratic senate in 2020.
-
Exactly thank you. It’s motivation for us to do all possible to make it happen.

Still holding out hope for a national holiday!!!

I have to admit I don’t understand that you vote on Tuesday. Our elections are on Sunday, with mandatory time off for people who are working. Not perfect but makes more sense tbh
-
You'll have to fact check this yourself, but i believe the Tuesday voting stemmed from what days farmers had to be able to sell their products at market. Tuesday ended up being the most likely day for them to be home to vote. Probably not an issue today, but change is hard.
-
Thanks for this information ! There is always a good explanation behind this sort of « tradition »
-
Well also you have the fact that Friday, Saturday, Sunday are in whole or in part set aside as holy days by one religion or another... If you only have 1 day voting then best to avoid them.
-
Actually a lot of voting WAS on Sunday. Then blacks started organizing to go to the polls after church (seems easy right?) so they moved it. Its likely the most amount of people will have Sunday off... so that combined with early voting would increase numbers
