The @LATAMProg's #ArgentinaProject co-hosted a panel today, with @IRIglobal, for 4 @DiputadosAR: the PRO's @slospennato and @KBanfi, a Radical, from @BAProvincia; and two @gcba lawmakers, the PRO's @CorneliaSL and @MarcoLavagna, a moderate Peronist from @SergioMassa's movement.
In a wide-ranging discussion, the lawmakers from #Argentina discussed #Venezuela (solidarity with the MUD, but no power to sanction individuals), and politically difficult legislation, such as December's pension reform and the upcoming debate on labor reform.
Explaining @mauriciomacri's success building coalitions, without a majority in the Lower House or Senate, the lawmakers said the crisis caused by @CFKArgentina's populism had persuaded the "responsible opposition" (i.e., non-kirchneristas) to collaborate with @cambiemos.
For his part, the @DiputadosAR observed, @mauriciomacri has had no choice but to negotiate with the opposition, and despite successful midterm elections in October, he still needs opposition votes to advance reforms in #Argentina.
The four @DiputadosAR also discussed anti-corruption efforts and their historic vote, in October, to strip @CFKArgentina's former influential minister, Julio de Vido, of his parliamentary immunity, a decision they attributed to public demands for accountability.
