Calling all #voiceactors! Breathing Techniques, do you have them?!
I just recorded an audition and had to edit out THIRTEEN breaths.
I sound like an asthmatic Darth Vader. Help. Please.

Especially since you say that you take sharp breaths, it's not about a technique, but about long term workouts. Do some exercises to open up your lungs (rolling Rs, motorboating) and work your diaphragm (lay down, put some books on your diaphragm, breathe). (1/2)
Then focus on the specifics.Start doing combined breathing (mouth and nose) and always read your script many times over to find the best way to pace it. It's not something that you'll learn over a day or two and please don't push yourself; overexertion is the enemy of the lungs.
