Having a grammar query: "Why did Jane write this?" & "Jane wrote this". Surely Jane is the subject both times? Why different tense?

@thmsbsh Google has a really nice etymology tool where they show you how words travelled. They show you how those words didn't come to you -
@Arcadian_O yes I am aware of pop-linguistics. Old French was based in Latin innit. -
@thmsbsh Latin didn't words didn't magically travel to the UK. They were imported by the people you want to stop from teaching you grammar
