Just finished AC Contra on the Anniversary Collection on PS4. Emulation is worse than the stand-alone Arcade Archives version. There's slowdown when there's too many sprites and the enemy behavior during 3D mazes is inaccurate. You can't adjust your lives/extends either.
I know most people don't care much about the Arcade Contras as much as the console entries, but I have to wonder if they made the emulation on the Collection bad on purpose to get people to buy the ACA version. Super Contra seems fine though (aside from the lack of options).
All the emulated releases of the AC Contra have the same problem with inaccurate behavior during the 3D stages, a problem that also exists in MAME. But the ACA version is the only one that gets it right. Apparently Hamster uses their own ROM dumps, so that might be the reason.pic.twitter.com/sjKIg8XqIJ

The Contra Anniversary Collection is by M2. They also did the Konami's Arcade Hits collection for Nintendo DS, which had the same emulation problem with Contra when it comes to the enemy character behavior during the 3D mazes. It's a problem caused by a missing ROM apparently.
