My website @ArcDigi was the subject of some controversy yesterday over abortion, platforming, and allyship, which makes this a good time to tell you what the site is and is not; why I'm proud of Arc, my fellow editors, and our writers; and what this all says about politics today.

3. I know that a lot of places say they are committed to ideological diversity and stop short. Not true at @ArcDigi. They mean it.

2. This has sometimes been hard on me, I will freely admit. There have been many editorial discussions. They have almost all been ultimately constructive. That's pretty rare!

1. I've been professionally checked out for the past couple of weeks, but I wanted to comment on controversy regarding @ArcDigi. It is an ideologically diverse publication. Which means all of us there sometimes have our name attached to pieces we find morally repugnant.

I once retweeted something from Berny, disagreeing with his take. He responded and we had a rational discussion but no agreement. Later he sent me an offer to write about that perspective should I want to. Needing journalism to be ideologically pure is a problem.

Welcome, new followers. Which way does our site lean? Omnidirectionally. Give us your socialists, your liberals, your centrists, your conservatives, your libertarians.

Once again, I’ll say that I’m *extremely* proud to be a part of @ArcDigi, a site with a diverse group of writers who hold a variety of views. I don’t agree with the arguments/positions in every piece, and that’s a good thing. It’s a rare, much-needed online destination.

Arc is not aligned with any particular political cause. We value truth, dialogue, and intellectual pluralism, which is political in a bigger sense--especially nowadays when those things are under assault--but we don't aim advance any single issue viewpoint or political party. 4/x
