In 1980, the top 1% of taxpayers contributed ~19% of total income tax revenue. The bottom 90% contributed about 52%. In 2015, the top 1% contributed ~39% of total income tax revenue. The bottom 90% contributed 29.4%. The rich pay a far greater share now than in 1980.

  16. Of course, none of this will happen because the big three are happy with the stats quo, and the average voter doesn't recognize the issues with that. We'll continue with ever expanding govts and all the taxes associated with that, regardless of who gets elected. /end

  17. Yes, things change, and new things crop up. These policies aren't written in stone, and election platforms can add "flavour of the day" topics. No issue there. /5

  18. As the electorate, we need to remember that they work for us. WE make the rules. WE should demand that these parties solidify core party policies. WE should demand that they promote, discuss, and stick to these core policies...all the time. /4

  19. Of course, that question is rhetorical. We all know what they're doing. Gauging the whims of the electorate. Trying to figure our how to be everything to everybody. It is THAT which has given us three big government parties. Right , and ? /3

  20. The problem with this, and it is a MASSIVELY HUGE problem, is that, as a party, you should be garnering support for your policies ALL THE TIME. If you only want to discuss party policy during elections, what are you doing the other 47 months? /2
