As I’m getting older, I’m already planning my future. I want to be a professional animator for a company and do YouTube as a part time job. If I want to do YouTube on the side, it would make it difficult for me to keep my main job with “content not for kids.”

Not to mention it would make people who don’t have to constantly say curse words in their videos harder to grow their channel. We already know the YouTube bots aren’t good. Terrible with copyright claims and demonitzation. So why use bots to determine what content is for kids?!

I think a better system you guys could use is the creator getting to choose a rating (G, PG, PG13, and R.) and the G-rated videos don’t have notifications or comments. PG-13 and R videos can be made unable to watch for kids by parents in YouTube settings or something like that.

This is a system that does indeed need changing, so if you guys could Retweet I would really appriciate it!

Machine learning will help identify content that is made for kids, as defined by the FTC (see D1 of their FAQs for more: https://ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/complying-coppa-frequently-asked-questions …). Since you know your videos & their target audiences best, you’ll also be required to self designate videos as made for kids.

Yes, but if my videos are appropriate for all ages, it’s suitable for kids, therefore comments will be disabled and my subscribers will not get notifications for my videos.
