    Over 150 students gathered for the 21st annual MLK Challenge — a day of reflection, education and service organized by Appalachian and the Community Together (ACT). The participants contributed 1,350 hours of service to 16 local organizations.

    The 3rd Annual AppKIDS Superhero Run, Walk, or Fly 5K will take place at 9AM on Saturday, March 28, 2020. There will be a costume contest with prizes offered! Registration is $25 and proceeds support the annual AppKIDS program in the fall!

    Effective Jan. 21, 2020, Mrs. Kristie Love will serve as the principal at East Alexander Middle School. Mrs. Love earned her BA in Elementary Education from App State & her MA in Administration from Gardner-Webb University.

    Sarah Johns, a music teacher at Osceola Elementary School, has been named Teacher of the Year. Johns received her bachelor's in music from App State in NC and a master's in music education from Winthrop University in SC.
