Maybe for Apple TV 4? The developer preview unit had USB-C.
Unreleased (Early Prototype) Apple USB-A to USB-C cable. This cable was never sold to consumers. They could have easily switched to USB-C alongside the MacBook in 2015. This move would have streamlined everything along with the USB-C iPad Pro in 2018.
