Hold on everyone I think I made a mistake @YouTube might only be talking about if you live stream.. @YTCreators can you verify?https://twitter.com/keemstar/status/977285574116675584 …
A lot of us? Or you could just create a bookmarks folder for those channels... My point is, the setting of “none” shouldn’t be default. It should ask the user, when they click subscribe, what their preference is. The notification bell is a hidden feature to many YouTube watchers.

What you’re talking about is a follow system like Twitter... To subscribe is to receive something regularly. If that’s not how it’s going to work, they should change the current “subscribe” to ‘follow/bookmark’ and change ‘sponsor’ to ‘subscribe.’

Yes, this would be my preferred option. It wouldn’t change YouTube dramatically but it would allow people to choose when subscribing. It would also educate more people about the bell feature, so they could go and activate it for older channels if they wanted.

I know that Chrome & Firefox sync everything as those are the two I use personally. But again, this wouldn’t be my preferring change anyway. It’s the prompt to choose notification preferences when clicking ‘subscribe.’
