So folks are asking me why I think Holocaust denial should be criminalized. Here's six arguments that I think support the idea...

I dont think we should criminalise idiocy. If we did you'd be locked up and Twitter wouldnt be as interesting. Holocaust denial is like gravity denial. Being wrong should never be a crime.

Fraud is a crime. False advertising is a crime. Why not hostile propaganda, which is what Holocaust denial literature really is?

Define "hostile propaganda". Who decides what that is? Do you not think that the definition could be abused?

"Freedom of speech" is being abused now to GET PEOPLE KILLED. It's not a matter of picking the perfect solution, but of picking the solution with the fewest flaws.

How is it being used to kill people? Thats bullshit. Speech can not hurt people. Speech is the best way to avoid killing people.

Okay. If everyone had free speech the world would be better off.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, however.... I remind folks that Julius Streicher was hanged by the Allies in Nuremburg for his exercises in "free speech".

BTW, this is exactly the wrong day to argue unlimited freedom of speech to me; the guy nailing pedestrians in Toronto was apparently inspired by 4chan's "incel" groups.http://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/2018/04/24/incels-hail-toronto-van-driver-who-killed-10-as-a-new-elliot-rodger-talk-of-future-acid-attacks-and-mass-rapes/ …

Killing people is NOT free speech. Speech is speech, murder is murder. They are INCREDIBLY different.

They are entirely different. Even incitement is a world away from actual murder.

Is hiring a hitman a world away from actual murder?

No. But it is not the same as murder. Either way it isnt speech.

Legally it's conspiracy to commit murder in many jurisdictions, and thereby incurs the same penalties as 1st degree murder. BTW, I can easily argue that stochastic terrorism is a means for crowd-sourcing for hitmen.
