What am I listening to on my Friday night drive home from the studios? My favourite Dickens-inspired band. An innovative, unpredictable, intriguing sound from the 60s and 70s that passes the test of time.

It took a days of travel through flooded roads with no mobile coverage, but we made it to the frontlines of #PakistanFloods disaster. Tonight on @SBSNews we go inside villages in Pakistan’s farming heartland. Houses destroyed, lives and livelihoods lost in a #climate disaster

I’ve had a few wonderful dégustation dinners on a number of continents (some even without an Espresso Martini!). This South African offering at ranks among the best. Well done, Franschhoek.

I love this unfolding story…

Strange but heartwarming story. This one kids event I did about 7 years ago in a bookshop, I turned up and there was one kid and his grandma. I waited until about ten minutes past the time and no one else turned up, which was really strange.+

It’s seems two reporters knew about Scott Morrison’s lie through omission to the Australian public, and rather than report this, sat on the important news to sell a few books. And we wonder why people don’t trust journalists anymore.

What an incredibly moving story on tonight by and Abdullah Alikhil from Pashto.

I am so excited to be bringing you this amazing story with my SBS Pashto colleague Abdullah Alikhil about an incredible connection between a wounded interpreter and a grieving father, over a tragic episode of Australia's military history. sbs.com.au/language/pasht

What am I listening to on my Friday night drive home from the studios? An obvious choice: hanging out with old mates Sandy and Danny and Rizzo (who was always my favourite) at Rydell High.

Deep thanks to one of my favourite people, Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli, for this chat about everything under the rainbow (and beyond), inc. the politics of allyship, intersectionality and watching a generation of LGBTIQ+ leaders achieving change. 🌈 🙏🏻 podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/dr-

Today’s run was a very special opportunity to share a nostalgic hour with Judith and the boys.

Rockin', rollin', ridin' out along the bay. Sadly, today we say goodbye to Judith Durham, so much part of my growing-up soundtrack. All bound for Morningtown, many miles away. We'll be paying tribute in at 6.30.

What am I listening to on my Friday night drive home from the studios? Standards sung by a longtime favourite, mezzo Frederica von Stade. Bet you wouldn’t have guessed from the name that she’s American.

One day short of ten weeks - that’s the time it took for my passport to be renewed. That’s stressful with a departure date looming. But, credit where it’s due: the good folk at were friendly and co-operative. And above all they followed through on what they promised to do.

Whether it's about a Voice, a Pride jumper or lighting up the Shrine of Remembrance to honour gay and lesbian military personnel: how important is it to be a nation of respect and dignity and inclusion? It feels like this is shaping up to be a moment for us to define who we are.

What am I listening to on my Friday night drive home from the studios? For exuberant, irresistible rhythms and good-to-be-alive energy, it’s hard to go past this class act. I’ll be singing along - with pre-emptive apologies to other drivers - very LOUDLY!

What am I listening to on my Friday night drive home from the studios? He’s one half - with Joni - of the famed Mitchell-Taylor Boy&Girl Choir (ie backup singers for Carole King on Tapestry). Also a Hall of Famer with 100m in record sales and a certifiable music legend.

What an amazing, intriguing, revealing podcast series this is. I couldn’t stop listening. Elizabeth Reid, John Menadue and Richard Butler are just some of the players in the extraordinary drama that played out in Nov 1975. Great work .

What am I listening to on my Friday night drive home from the studios? Legendary Sam Cooke started out as a doo-wop singer (the best kind). The King of Soul, as he was later styled, took an E in the 1950s. No, not the party drug. He changed his name from Cook to Cooke.

So this happened! Time to shout the news, leap about a bit, and send 🥂 Then to get ‘Bright Hillside’ out into the world. Huge congrats to a terrific group of shortlistees, and heartfelt thanks to PRH and the judges.

Confronting but rewarding, in-your-face violence, tenderness, intrigue. Standout elements for me were the nuanced writing, very real characters and especially the thoughtful cinematography. Lonesome - a new film - proves big ideas trump small budgets.

A little disingenuous if you ask me. If her new partner had been a man there would be no element of coming out. A key difference casually ignored.

On the anniversary of Tiananmen there are always people who tweet that reports of a massacre are the invention of the Western media. I was there, I saw it happen & I counted 40 people killed in front of my eyes. And my team filmed it all.
