Eduard Limonov venerated “talented misfits” and claimed to offer a galvanizing cause for hopeless youths. But his politics were built on Russian revanchism — a “National Bolshevism” combining fascist imagery with a claim to restore Soviet grandeur.https://www.jacobinmag.com/2020/03/eduard-limonov-obituary …

He's a fucking Nazi, you goons. He literally founded the NazBol Party. He wasn't even subtle about it. Their flag was literally the Nazi flag with a hammer-and-sickle instead of a swastika.pic.twitter.com/5nGiksgHnH

Why publish an obituary at all then?

I mean editorial decisions are what they are but publishing unflattering obituaries for people you don’t like isn’t an unheard of phenomenon

How, on balance, is the article unflattering? At one stage its depicting him like some sort of revolutionary heartbreak ear, the next it's basically saying "NazBols weren't really that bad, if you give them a chance".

It opens with him shooting civilians for a guy they say committed genocide. Seems unflattering to me. It describes his politics as “revanchism” and “nationalism”. I don’t see any part where they act like the dude is some legitimate working class hero.

Sure, describing fascism as nonviolent, non-racist, and pro-leftist isn't glossing over anything important.
