2/ First, that a total of 10 pages for a four-month investigation... does not display an encouraging amount of investigative rigor. The fact that arrests on the far-right have usually been after an identification from antifascist researchers is unsurprising.
3/ Also, leftists take note-- the FBI does investigate groups that haven't committed any crimes, but the length of this surveillance is finite. Basically, they get a few months to observe you, and then they have to produce evidence of illegal activity or else knock it off.pic.twitter.com/pWsQxBTZdV
4/ I'm not defending this practice, but it's something to keep this in mind when planning your security culture. If you suspect you are being surveilled, it may be prudent to increase security or even change operations for 4-6 months.

7/ So I guess congrats to Joey Gibson and Tiny Toese-- you managed to launch a federal investigation into the Proud Boys, lmao.
8/ But this is *exactly* why we need antifascist researchers. The FBI had four months to investigate the Proud Boys in the months leading up to a summer of violent attacks throughout the Pacific Northwest, and all they came up with is 10 pages.
