I was simultaneously monitoring the trolls who were trying to hijack the conversation and immediately after misspeaking I attempted to clarify. My friend and research peer is trans and I love and respect them. I would never do anything intentionally to harm the community.

Gotcha. Saying "I'm not a tr***y" to a bunch of nazis and proud boys is okay because your intentions were good. No need to apologize because you have trans friends.

*sigh*. If one of the people participating in the stream said it first and that was a snap response, I would say this is tempest in a tea cup territory. She's not running for Senate, she's working de-radicalization.

This conflict has been smoldering for months. I think I understand at least some of the underlying issues. I don't think public infighting is beneficial.

I see one group that opposes fascists and interdicts them by whatever means are available. I approve highly of this activity. I see another group that would like to assist those who want a way out. This is a laudable goal, but MUCH harder to execute.

Really not interested in what level of transphobia you feel is acceptable, Neal.

Neal, the issue is that Samantha's organization, Light Upon Light, is collaborating with an active hate group member and saying he's a "former extremist."https://twitter.com/AntiFashGordon/status/1208385983898624001 …

AntiFash Gordon @AntiFashGordon1/ RECAP THREAD: I've gotten a lot of DMs asking what the deal with Light Upon Light is. In short, they claim to be an anti-hate org, but they're defending Frank Meeink, now with the Clarion Project, an anti-Islam hate group that's inspired extremist violence against Muslims. pic.twitter.com/AHfJPj9voAAfficher cette discussion1 réponse 1 Retweet 22 j'aime -
This is completely news to me. I see TPUSA in there, I know that's a problem. Guess I have some reading to do ...

Yeah. Dude's working with the Clarion Project, an anti-Muslim org that inspired Anders Breivik. Kutner did a livestream tonight to defend him, and in the course of defending a hate group member, dropped a couple of anti-trans slurs.
