I'd love to see antifascism get more mainstream acceptance, but that's not going to happen by disowning bloc tactics and embracing the cops, as this article seems to suggest.
#ACAB, and long live the three-way fight.

My research peer noted the balance b/t appealing to a liberal audience & remaining true to a movement’s principles. Is the answer to abandon liberals? Communicate more clearly with each other? Idk the answer, but I & others at
@lighttuponlight would love to hear from everyone. -
Sam, liberals can figure that out for themselves, but what liberals like yourself shouldn't do is separate the militancy from the success of that militancy, which is what you're doing now. Mass mobilizations go hand-in-hand with militant antifascism.

Of course! And as we've seen in Portland, when fascists come out and we aren't there to oppose them, they just attack regular people, usually POCs or visibly LGBTQIA folks, and then call them "communists." It's straight out of Mussolini's playbook.

Always happy to
#ThankTheBloc! Mass mobilization depends on collaboration. We respect and learn from militant groups. Our messaging is often directed at people new to antifascism and who are put off by militant tactics. We offer other ways to engage. We never denounce the bloc. -
We believe there's room in this work for broad coalition IF the groups have mutual respect and agree to not denounce each other. We do a lot of negotiating and have had some success helping groups understand militant tactics. We'll keep at it and see how far we can get.

PopMob thanks the black bloc for being there for this reason. The diverse coalition allows for much wider participation from all sorts of folks. Keep in mind PopMob came together after a17 when fascists and nationalists overwhelmed militant anti-fascists and brutalized them.

It was June 30th, 2018 that inspired us to form PopMob. We kept seeing people we loved get hurt on the front line over and over again while most of Portland stayed home. We couldn't stand it anymore. We figured a mass mobilization standing with the bloc would keep us all safer.
