CONTEXT: The far-right started using "Zionists" as a dogwhistle for Jews in the 1970s. (Specifically, Willis Carto and his Liberty Lobby started it.)
Offhandedly saying "Zionists" is going to set some people with Nazi experience on edge, so *please* make your context clear.

Okay now this is just absurd. @RetweetWitch just said 'influence' and that's a conspiracy theory? *nuance nuance nuance* Israel *nuance nuance nuance* obviously influences US policy. We need to separate the state of Israel from the personhood of its citizens and proponents.

@lucky_number9_ is right. This is a huge, persistent and growing issue. Leftists utilize the language of antiZionism without context and abuse its meaning with alarming frequency. To be clear: Zionism is the belief in a Jewish right to self determination. AntiZionism denies it. -
Your definition is in no way the accepted definition of what Zionism represents, which is an inherently nationalist ideology. Self-determination as a principle doesn't predicate nationalism. You can believe in a Jewish right to self-determination but be opposed to Zionism.
