I literally started with “I’m not saying we should say females” and my point was that grammatically it’s reasonable because English does this in other places.
I think @hakan_geijer was dissecting *why* it’s creepy as a point of grammar, not arguing for calling women “females.”
(Though I will say that in general, Twitter is a horrible place for nuance, even among people who fundamentally agree.)

I actually was bringing up an orthogonal point. It is weird to say females and shouldn’t. Also, we do that in English a lot both earnestly and sarcastically.
