But the Proud Boys are misogynists, too. They hate women, but everyone just kind of accepts that most misogynists are straight guys in relationships with women, right?

I don't think they hate *women*, per se. They hate women having power, of any kind. Perhaps it's thinking power is some sort of finite resource and they want to horde it all, not letting the "other" - liberals, women, non-Christians, non-whites, whomever else - have any
