1. A large number in a short period. 2. A word that (usually anonymous) people use on social media when unbiased reporting doesn’t confirm their opinions.

Absolutely correct. And Revolution Books has been targeted again and again. That is one. But that's not what the author of the piece meant. They meant a spate nationwide at bookstores. And that's not accurate.
