And in case it's not plain to anyone yet, the far-right's "free speech" argument is bullshit. The Proud Boys took credit for mass reporting King, and hate groups are attacking bookstores. It's all about violently intimidating people who disagree with them.
It's almost like they don't really care about free speech, just warping and taking advantage of it in order to manipulate their way into power for the purpose of eliminating the undesirables and the opposition. Hmm... Rings bells.

I'm trying to find the story about it, but a similar incident (attempted arson of an Anarchist bookstore on Haight Street) was a key moment in how the Hells Angels chased the Nazis out of the SF Bay Area. After that they moved deeper into the PNW.
