Think about it for two seconds— literally no one who has heard of the Atomwaffen is unaware that they’re white supremacists. Why would you make that assumption?

So the statement seemed to lack measure because it made behavior that could easily be on the radical left the issue rather than the open white supremacy. The mention of the flag burning seemed particularly strange.

She was describing what they were doing in their latest recruitment video, Shane. It’s the fact that a white supremacist murder cult is recruiting that alarmed her, not that they were burning a flag. Learn to read with good faith, not like you gotta explain stuff to women.

The post I commented on was about how they were shooting guns and burning flags. And I think the rhetoric that she used there is part of the same rhetoric that ends up demonizing left militant organizations. And I deleted the comment because I didn't want to be shitty.

So if you agreed that was a shitty, sexist thing to do and deleted it, why are you relitigating this now?

My point was to comment that you were mansplaining to a woman who has written more than either of us about the Proud Boys and talking down to her. It sounds like you are taking her work out of context, thinking that you know better, and refuse to hear anyone about it.

Lmao, fuck you, Shane. You got embarrassed because I called you out the other day , and now you’re mad. I’m not the only person who had this issue with this article. Calling a hate group a “fraternity” is inappropriate no matter what. Take your shitty grudge and go to bed.

You are working really hard to defend mansplaining to a woman, and I would really hope you would at least hold yourself to the same critical standard that you hold others to. No one is too good to make mistakes, I make them and I would hope we can own up to them.

Lmao. Questioning a media professional’s language isn’t “mansplaining.” Assuming that a woman doesn’t know that Atomwaffen is a neo-Nazi group— like you did— is. Just take the fucking L, Shane.

There were remarkably similar situations, and, like I said, even though I really had a problem with her characterization, I took a step back to look at it critically. You aren't doing that, and seem to get really defensive at the suggestion of it. Accountability can be important.

I asked why she referred to a hate group as a “fraternity.” She said she did, but her editor took it out. Now you and @areidross are going to some lengths to call me a sexist because I called you out the other day, Shane. Final word is yours— I have real organizing to do.pic.twitter.com/lCH9FAAMGm

That doesn't change it, you still trolled a woman and made claims about her work that I don't think it warrants. Obviously it should say hate group, but it felt like an unfair characterization. It is also insulting to assume people here also don't do serious organizing.

It’s a common theme with the media in Portland. Very few journalists there take the violence of the far right seriously. Beth Nakamura of The Oregonian went out of her way to help Andy Ngo just before he started taking pictures of antifa in order to dox them.
