They call themselves a “fraternity” to give ideological cover to their far-right beliefs and history of violence.
Instead, why not use the designation of a professional third-party, like the @splcenter, which calls them a “hate group”?

No one’s defending fraternities, just acknowledging that they’re more socially acceptable than hate groups.

Fair enough. I guess my point is that they shouldn't be. Frats are responsible for some pretty heinous shit across campuses, but I'm not going to belabor the point. There's no comparison with what Phi Kappa Kavanaugh does and what the Piss Boys do.
