Okay but this is a genuinely decent thing to protest. Like assange is a hero and should be defended so do we really want to let them have a monopoly on this issue while we focus on their protest?
Oh, I don’t think we have to pick a side here? We can acknowledge that the US police state is punishing whistleblowers while also acknowledging that Assange is a rapist and a fascist who’s supported the human rights violations of the Assad and Putin regimes.
Anti-fascism has always been a three-way fight between the left, the right, and the state. Opposing fascism doesn’t at all mean we’re siding with the state. Fuck the state, but also fuck fascists using free speech as a cover to hold events and build power.
