3/ But I'll add that Facebook knows who the Nazis are, and has known all along. When I want to figure out who's part of a Nazi crew, I start a sock account, and then friend two members of that crew. Facebook then starts suggesting the rest of the crew as other friends.

4/ Facebook isn't dumb, and their technology is state-of-the-art. If they'd wanted to ban Nazis a long time ago, it would have been child's play for them. But Nazis are very active on social media, and very profitable for corporations.

5/ And corporations don't undermine their own bottom lines without pressure from activists. To everyone who pressured them-- thank you. This is your victory. Going forward, I expect that content moderation policies will be inconsistent, but some policy is better than none.

6/ So don't stop the pressure. Keep pressuring Facebook and Instagram to enforce its own policies. Every time we deplatform a fascist, we take away another tool they have for spreading their violence.

It's worth reflecting that real change doesn't start from the middle, it starts from the extremes. This is a societal change that YOU have been instrumental in bringing to a tipping point. That these assholes and their opinions are unacceptable. Bravo
