THREAD: How @jack and @vijaya are getting rolled by the Proud Boys to defend white nationalist groups like Identity Evropa and The Shieldwall Network.
And how this has emboldened the Proud Boys to threaten the media and attack undocumented immigrants.https://www.thedailybeast.com/proud-boys-cite-twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-to-attack-antifa …

Great thread but the solution isn't to censor and ban people because that will result in violence. Instead, speak out and confront them with facts and reason and condemnation. An army of 18 year olds is not a threat to the country UNLESS we overreact.

SPOILER: By their own admission, the Proud Boys are already violent. Giving them a platform just gives them a place to recruit more people to enact that violence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J_1Wqzqt4I …

Yes but we need not give them more excuses for violence. If you censor them, they will act out even more, and their recruitment will only become more effective. This is proven.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/21/world/europe/facebook-refugee-attacks-germany.html …

Uhhh, you literally just cited an article showing that social media propaganda put forth by fascists has inspired anti-refugee violence. I hate to tell you this, but that's an argument in favor of deplatforming fascists.

Wrong. These people were banned from Facebook. And what happens when you are banned? You take it to the streets. “There is no feeling like being muzzled. Cut out your tongue.”https://www.theoaklandpress.com/news/nation-world-news/suspect-in-portland-stabbings-built-life-around-hate-speech/article_3201a3c0-f80c-5561-bc1f-0003d80aab8a.html …
