I have a hard time giving her the benefit of the doubt on these. And Wikileaks is not exactly on the up and up. I don’t know, man.pic.twitter.com/XEMnwWaLKt

I get that stance but I have a hard time reconciling not only her associations, which strike me as more than questionable, but also the coincidence of sending the into to Wikileaks of all places.

Like I’m not a russiagate conspiracy theorist by any means but the weaponizing if Wikileaks by Russia is basically a known fact. It’s why Snowden hides there Add that to those associations and her reasoning strikes me as a convenient excuse.

I am highly skeptical of the idea that she associated with them for intel. She’s not exactly a secret figure and those people aren’t exactly brilliant minds that require a spy. I dunno man.

And when you say that getting intel on fascists doesn’t “require a spy,” it shows that you don’t do anti-fascist work. Some of the best intel we get comes from infiltrating. Infiltration is necessary and valuable to anti-fascists. You don’t get to support it only when it works.

Also just to clarify, what I meant was that spying on those particular fascists seems less necessary as everyone knows they’re fascists and they’re also morons and public figures. Not like the rando fasicsits that live on their anonymity

There’s basically two things that infiltration work clarifies— the first is just ID’ing anonymous or pseudonymous Nazis. The second is delineating the ties of public figures like McInnes to more radical violent wings of the movement and denying them plausible deniability.

(Does that make sense? I’m pretty sure that had I been in Chelsea’s situation, I would have made the same call she did— take the shot, and at least try to score some actionable intel.)
