I can’t speak for them, but for me, it’s because the survivor themself didn’t use it. My approach to these matters centers the survivor’s experience, and they cast their experience as abuse, manipulation, and gaslighting. If that changes, I’m happy to change my language. 1/2

That said, I could be reading their thread wrong, but I still think that emotional manipulation, abuse, and gaslighting is a very serious act of violence, and treat this as seriously as if the survivor themself had used that word. 2/2
