Sincere question: what does showing up in court do? I've done it and will again, but I'm not sure what I'm accomplishing.
It provides moral support to our side. Facing a charge can be *really* scary— you’re facing the violence of the state. It helps to have comrades cheering you on.

It can. When white people show up to support Black defendants, Black defendants have a better chance of receiving fairer treatment from the judge. It also is wonderful for legal self-education.
