Is there any way you could report him to police for making that threat? Thank you for answering my question.

Does that make sense? I know that's a long weird answer to what seems like a pretty simple question. If it doesn't, I can explain more, but I don't want to talk your ear off.

Sorry if my reply got kind of awkward and personal. I guess I just wanted to illustrate how the programming that "cops are trustworthy" still influences me to some extent, even though my own experience should tell me not to place faith in that institution. Fuck the cops.

Hey, no worries, comrade! Honestly, what changed my mind about the cops, too, was seeing how they deal with survivors of sexual assault.

To anyone reading who still has faith in the cops. Check out this table from Rebecca Campbell's "Rape Survivors’ Experiences With the Legal and Medical Systems": http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1077801205277539?casa_token=vGcVe4VNJSUAAAAA%3AiR1JZJyzXqD737fO7QD1886-LHVOtw7KQ084ltYnyXo_gbcJSw5qOR1ly_12NC-udDbmJMazbY4 …pic.twitter.com/lPXjB8UrAw

It deals with the "secondary victimization" that survivors of sexual assault experience when they attempt to report the attack to the police. Of those without an advocate present, 81% of survivors were discouraged BY THE POLICE from filing a report.

43% of the time, without an advocate present, cops just fucking refuse to even take a report. And even with an advocate present, that still happened 1 in 5 times.

As Campbell reports, 31% of survivors without an advocate present were asked if they had an orgasm during the attack. Overall, 90% of survivors experienced victim-blaming behavior.

And for what? This screenshot is from a 2012 talk Campbell gave at the National Institute of Justice. 80-90% of sexual assaults THAT ARE REPORTED to the police are never even charged or referred for prosecution. Cops retraumatize survivors and don't even bust rapists.pic.twitter.com/WxPW4uEt8i

But seriously, like you said,
@SnarlakAttack -- fuck the police. The next time someone says, "We can't just abolish the police-- what about rapists and child molesters?" Just show them this. The cops don't go after sexual predators, anyway.0 replies 0 retweets 1 like
