Just to reply to this chain directly, it does appear YouTube provides the counter-claimer a message saying their info will be send to the other party, and they legally have to. Unsure if I saw that msg personally. While shitty, I can't fault YouTube. It's just a scary world yo.

yeah i sent my info to youtube and they sent it straight to him. that's why i was swatted the next day. it's disgusting and very upsetting. also horrifying.
-
Now here's a question. When you submitted the counter-claim, did YouTube do a satisfactory job in letting you know that the claimant would receive that info, or were you completely unaware?

Unfortunately this is a requirement of US DMCA law and YouTube can't really do anything about it. Copyright law definitely needs updating.
-
I can even understand that. I just wish YouTube's Counter-DMCA form made it more clear that the claimant received that info, as a courtesy to the user filling out the form.

He's not wrong, this is what they do. I see no logical reason why, the YT channel name, email and name I can understand but phone number, address and such there's no reason for it.
-
As Ethan said here, if it was just YouTube storing it in the event that the party striking the video decided to open up a legal case against the person being striked, that they could THEN provide that info, that would be fine. It was never clear what's being done w/ the info.

@calthekidftw can confirm this, he is the one who was swatted after he sent his info -
That's fucking crazy. I don't even mind that YouTube does this...okay well I do...but what's really nutty is that the counter-DMCA form does not make it clear that they do this.

Yep sadly it is true, and it’s lead to many youtubers being swatted and doxxed against their will because they’re forced to provide this or else they can’t counter the claim
-
I had a false strike once where the guy tried to get money for me but luckily my MCN let me use their contact info so I wasn’t at risk
