I love how these news outlets deliberately ignore the part where American diplomat Daniel Foote said that US interference in , and the US imposing puppet regimes to undermine Haitian sovereignty and self-determination are the causes of Haiti's condition.

The President has directed USAID to "coordinate" the assistance to Haiti following the latest horrible earthquake. Great! USAID! Wait a sec—what happened after the last earthquake in 2010? What's USAID's track record in Haiti? Hmm.

If you don't have family or friends in you can send money to directly, please don't rush to send money. Please, please don't send to large international organizations like the American Red Cross, which have a terrible record in Haiti. (1/n)

Same goes for , pretty incredible! Someone should write about why these first-time candidates are so strong and the incumbents at the Port (sustaining 121k jobs, $38 billion in revenue) have proven to be so vulnerable.

It's quite striking that the arguments being made for a U.S. intervention in Haiti are so alike the ones that were used to justify the 1915-34 occupation.

Bravo for telling the story of Haiti’s “reparations” to slaveholding France on national television. This is the context that U.S. viewers need and deserve.

Bottom line from : "For all the rhetoric on race and reckoning... US policy continues to stifle democracy and economic advancement in the only country founded after a successful slave revolt."

If there's anything that demonstrates the utter pointlessness and failure of the $7.2 billion, 13-year-long United Nations "peacekeeping" mission in Haiti, along with other forms of foreign intervention, it must be this.
