    A new policy change is in the works with the DoD that would ban *all* foreign military students from getting hunting licenses & guns, effectively closing the loophole that allowed the NAS Pensacola shooter from legally purchasing a firearm.

    Awaiting a “major” announcement from at in about 20 minutes. Of note, Grover Robinson just got back from a trip to Singapore, so won’t be surprised if the announcement is related to the ST Engineering campus at the airport.

    Nearly all of Destin’s beaches are privately owned & inaccessible to the gen public, as I reported for in 2018. It’s a mess. I was told then by city council that they’d float the idea of purchasing back some of the beach for public use. Local reporting matters folks

    City Council approves how the city will spend its share of local option half-cent sales tax $ for the tax’s remaining 9 yrs.: 75% for beach acquisition, 10% for undergrounding utilities, 10% for public works/public safety projects & 5% for “other” projects

    During the fires in Australia, ppl from all over the world knitted these tiny animal beds to help displaced animals. Australia became overwhelmed w donations, so places like the wildlife refuge in Navarre accepted them. These beds will help 100s of local baby animals this season

    A convicted rapist was trying to escape arrest today for failing to register as a sex offender, and climbed a radio tower to avoid police. He’s still up there. Police are growing more concerned as the night drags on. Via

    A bit of an anti-climactic end to this 2.5-hour debate: BOCC tables the resolution, will allow county residents to vote on it during the November general election.

    Interesting: Two commissioners for, two commissioners against the pro life sanctuary resolution. Dave piech is talking now and is evidently going to be the tie breaker here.

    Panhandle politics are all over the place this morning

    Escambia County drama: Commission breifly lost a quorum after Com. Doug Underhill stormed out when Com. Jeff Bergosh asked a question about the security of a new software system. Attorney said the discussion had to stop until he came back, which he did about a minute later.

    Good morning from Santa Rosa County, where a group of pro-abortion activists have come to protest the “pro-life sanctuary” resolution on this morning’s agenda. On Monday when this was first brought up, there were mostly anti-abortion activists in attendance
