Yep. I've known half a dozen women in my adult life who've lied about assault/harassment to hurt the guy who didn't want to be with them anymore. It sucks but it's a reality. Ugh.

I went to school with some girls who got mad they failed a test and decided to say our teacher touched them inappropriately as payback. (They had told lots of people of their plan.) He was acquitted but had to move away.

That's awful. That happened to my friend's boss not too long ago with another female employee who falsely accused him. The company didn't want the press so they refused to do an investigation and just fired him and the family had to move away. So sad.

I know this is silly but I think I heard on an ep of Law and Order SVU the phrase "believe but verify" or something similar. When someone comes forward with an accusation you believe them, but then you also put in the work to verify what they've said is true.

A lot of those episodes are based off situations that actually occurred so I don't think it's silly. I have never understood the ability to destroy someone's life by unverified accusations. It could happen to anyone without any proof and it's just supposed to be believed?

Look up Amber Heard. She abused him, nearly cut off his finger, then accused him of hitting her. She's been recorded, admitting that she was the abuser. Yet still blames him for it.
