I've been playing online games for over 15 years. I have never once in those 15 years been harassed by a woman online. If that has happened to you - I'm sorry to hear it. Any and all abuse online, regardless of gender, is stupid and terrible.

It's just interesting to me that your solution to people being awful is for the victims of the abuse to mute them or "grow up" - why not encourage the people actually acting out to "grow up"? Why are we reacting to the abuse instead of trying to stop it at its impetus?

Yeah, it's not great experiencing it. I debated about posting, people tend to say I'm "complaining" but I also am not about to pretend these things don't happen. A lot of people, guys especially, don't realize how often this happens to girls / how shitty it is. So here we are.

If I'd been streaming, I would have absolutely muted them as soon as they asked me my gender. I basically never responded other than to make callouts. They basically never responded other than to make the shitty comments in the video. Sad bros.

I aspire to that level of patience; to keep a cool head, keep playing well, even continuing to contribute in voice chat with callouts when your teammates are being so openly toxic and hostile to you. And then MVP? Ooh that made my vindictive side all fuzzy.
